“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” – Marie Curie
Our present day society is ruled by fear – fear of what might happen, fear of saying the wrong thing and fear of taking action. But fear is just one side of the coin – the other side of that coin is Courage. Do we continue to do nothing because we fear what ‘might’ happen? Or do we act out of Courage because we have faith in our collective abilities to achieve positive change?
This is the choice that those of us working together under the umbrella of MancSpirit have already made and that is why we have decided to work together and dedicate ourselves to taking positive action to ‘Be the change’.
It is being that change that will make the difference, through being that change that you will reach out and inspire others and it is by being the change together that will achieve maximum impact on defeating fear and inspiring Courage.
Many believe that our streets are becoming a battleground where those that promote anarchy and anti-social behaviour are winning the war. This is primarily political and media hype but there is a battle going on between those who want us to hide in the shadows and do nothing, those same people who’d encourage inaction through fear, and those of us who wish to encourage action through kindness and charity, those of us that are taking positive action to change things for the better through acts of Courage.
This is the basis for the establishment of MancSpirit, an organisation that values the individuality of our partners and their already established identities, as we fully recognise and celebrate the great work they are doing. But MancSpirit is also an organisation that draws together people that have the courage to take positive action and offer alternative proposals to change our world for the better.
We are not naïve to believe that we have all the answers, but we do know that by working together we have the Passion, belief and ability to not only find some of the answers, but also have the courage to reach out to people struggling with mental illness, inviting them to take part in developing inspiration and working shoulder to shoulder with Creative Manchester to make it happen.
Through creativity we will deliver inspiration – through inspiration we will find solutions.
